Did you know that you as parents have the greatest influence over your child's decision to use tobacco, alcohol or other drugs than any other influence in your child's life?  Even for teenagers, who sometimes seem to be more interested in what their peers, entertainers, athletes, and even other parents think than their own parents?  Studies have shown again and again that children and teens who learn about the risks of alcohol and other drugs from their parents are up to 50% less likely to use these substances.

Hoover Schools believes that parent - child communication . . . live, in person, talking, guiding and listening, is the best drug prevention program available, and aims to assist parents as you talk with your child about these difficult issues.  "Let's Keep Talking . . . To Keep Kids Drug Free" is a series of weekly parent tips designed to help educate you on the latest information about risky trends facing young people today, and will also provide tips for addressing these issues with your children.
