 Hoover Invitational

 Marching Festival

October 20, 2012

The Hoover Invitational Marching Festival is held the 3rd Saturday in October each year at the Regions Park Stadium in Hoover, Alabama.  Regions Park is the home of the Birmingham Barons Baseball team.  This facility is converted to a football stadium during football season.  The stadium seats over 10,000 people, plus visitor bleachers during football season.

Regions Park is an excellent facility for hosting the Hoover Invitational.  It has plenty of parking, large restrooms, numerous concession stands, ample warm up areas, easy field access for bands and their equipment, and is easily accessible from major interstates.

For the past decade, the Marching Blazers have thrilled thousands of fans with exciting performances that have helped make this one of the great college bands of the South.  As the school's athletic music ambassadors, the Sound of the Magic City is the university's largest performing ensemble.  The pride and tradition of excellence continue into the 21st century as the Marching Blazers press forward on the journey to present the highest level of musical and visual pageantry at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Marching Blazer Band consists of six components: marching brass, woodwinds, percussion, Blazerettes, Majorettes, and Colorguard.  A placement audition is required for membership and part assignment.  Blazerettes, Majorettes, Colorguard, and Drum Majors are selected by audition in the spring of each year.  Scholarships are awarded to students selected for auxiliary participation.  Scholarship assistance is available to all instrumental students and requires an audition for consideration.

The Marching Blazer Band meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30-5:15 in the fall semester.  For more information contact Sue Samuels at samuels@uab.edu or (205) 975-2263.
