About Us

Robert F. Bumpus Middle School (RFBMS) opened in 1999 as a 5th and 6th grade school.  Now, many years later, RFBMS has transformed to a 7th and 8th grade school to better serve the needs of the fast-growing sections of western Hoover.

The students, faculty and staff and parents take pride in supporting and promoting a rigorous and relevant curriculum in all subject areas.  In addition, a variety of extracurricular sports, clubs, character education program, and school-wide events work together to create a positive and meaningful school climate.

Curricular Information

Each teacher at RFBMS strives to create a classroom environment that is appropriately challenging to all students, as well as relevant to everyday lives of students.  The success of our students depends upon the creativity of teachers to discover and create differentiated means of teaching and assessing content objectives.  Through a school-wide emphasis on utilizing technology in every day instruction and assessment, teachers are continuing to discover new methods of supporting student learning.  The faculty and staff at RFBMS is dedicated to growing as educators, and believe that through constant professional growth, students’ lives will ultimately be enriched.

The RFBMS faculty has many opportunities to collaborate with the other teachers on their academic teams (Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Collaborative Studies).  In addition, all teachers have frequent opportunities to plan with other teachers in their own department and grade level.  The academic courses are complemented by the highest quality band, choir, drama, art, family living, foreign language, technology and physical education classes.  Students can be challenged through advanced class options, as well as supported daily by the instructional support department.  Throughout the school’s daily activities, the needs of the students are at the forefront of decision-making.  Excellence in teaching is the standard at Robert F. Bumpus Middle School.
