The Engineering Academy at Spain Park High School was established in 2007 with 18 students. The mission of the Engineering Academy at Spain Park High School is a distinctive, four-year curriculum where engineering professionals groom high school students to excel in undergraduate engineering programs.

The program has been designed as a four-year curriculum, with Algebra I serving as the only pre-requisite for the academy. There is also a three-year version of the academy. That means that any current 9th grader interested in being a part of The Engineering Academy may apply this spring, provided that they have completed Algebra I with at least a C average.

The philosophy is to give students what they need in the context of what they want. What do they need? A solid education, with a focus on math, science, and engineering. What do they want? To have fun! If it's not enjoyable, why would anyone want to spend a lifetime doing it? We strive to make engineering the highlight of each student's day and to show them how engineering provides a context for studying Math, Science, English, History, etc.
