Our registration for next year will be on July 30 and July 31 with make-up registration on August 6th 9:00 until 12:00. Please enter through the gym doors in the back of the school. Please make sure all online paperwork is complete before coming to registration.

The Summer Reading Book Sale is Happening Now!!!
Summer reading books will be on sale in the library throughout May and again during summer registration. English teachers will bring their classes to the library to purchase summer reading books the week of May 7-11. Any student who buys a book during his class visit will have his name and his teacher’s name put in a drawing for an iTunes gift card!

(Buses will run at the normal Mon. Tues. Thurs. and Fri. schedule)

It’s that time of year to say thank you to our amazing staff at Spain Park! Please consider purchasing a gift card to your favorite restaurant or store and drop it off at the front office before Wednesday, May 22. We will be holding drawings for the staff to win these great prizes at the End of the Year Staff Luncheon on Thursday, May 24. Gift cards can be any denomination since we are offering the entire staff a chance to win. Please show your support and thank our staff for a great year! Go Jags!
Health Room
Medications are not held in the Health Room from one school year to the next. Your child currently has medication in the Health Room. Students are not allowed to carry their own medications as policy states by the State Department of Education. Therefore, an adult will need to pick up your child’s medication by noon on May 24. Any medication that is left in the Health Room will be discarded after noon on May 24.
Remember, a new medication authorization form will be required for all medication at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. This authorization must be signed by both the physician and the parent/guardian. Authorization forms are available in the Health Room for pick up at any time or on the Hoover City Schools website School Health link.

The Spain Park Band has just kicked off our JAGUAR JAVA coffee fundraiser.
We are really excited to have our own private labeled coffee to sell this year! If you would like to order a bag or two, Please contact any band member that includes, Colorguard and Dance team too! Mr. Neugent and Mr. Baggett will also take orders.
Most everyone enjoys starting their day with a good cup of coffee! What better way than to start with a fresh cup of JAGUAR JAVA!
People will feel great supporting the band in such a flavorful way!

The Spain Park Varsity lacrosse team won their first state playoff game last night beating John Carroll 13-9. They will now play a semifinal match against Vestavia this Friday at Spain Park at 7:30. If they win Friday night, they will play in the championship game Sunday at 3:00. The state championships are being held Saturday and Sunday for all age groups at Spain Park.

Troy University offers the following undergraduate scholarships to the Troy, AL campus **TO ANY DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMEN PARTICIPANT ** who meets the criteria listed below. Please note that both test score and GPA requirements must be met: CHANCELLOR’S AWARD: Qualifications: 27 ACT or 1220 SAT (verbal & quantitative only) with a 3.5 high school GPA on a 4.0 scale Award: **Full tuition** - 4 year renewable for high school seniors – **Total value $27,000** & the SCHOLARS AWARD: Qualifications: 31 ACT or 1380 SAT (verbal & quantitative only) with a 3.7 high school GPA on a 4.0 scale; Award: ** Full tuition, room and board** - 4 year renewable for high school seniors – **Total value $48,000**
Attention Seniors: The National Science Foundation Summer Bridge Program is a free special academic opportunity for underrepresented minority high school seniors planning to enroll in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics major at a sponsoring 4-year Alabama college or university. This year, the program will be held at several different college campuses June 1st through July 20th. Please see Mrs. Sandlin or Mr. Prater for an application and more details. The deadline for applications is April 26th.
Attention Juniors: Samford University will be hosting the annual Alabama Governor’s School June 17-29th. This is a summer residential experience, providing academic, creative leadership experiences to students who have demonstrated exceptional ability and achievements in their studies. Any Junior interested in being nominated for this program, must see Mr. Tracy Prater in the Guidance Office by Friday, February 3rd. For more info, go to www.alabamagovernorsschool.org

If you will be a junior or senior next year and want to gain valuable experience in the workplace, look into Co-Op. Co-Op students enjoy early dismissal from the traditional school day while maintaining part-time supervised work experiences in fields related to their career objectives.
